GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MSPSBS


MAKTAB SAINS PADUKA SERI BEGAWAN SULTAN started in 1978 to meet the government's aim to produce students with a good grounding in Science and Mathematics and to make available a pool of students that could be trained to deal with the challenges and requirements of a rapidly developing Brunei and an ever changing world.

The setting of a special school with selected students, the cream of the crop, gathered together under one roof would be a good way of achievingthis obective. A special school like this would provide conducive environment, the stimuli and the challenge for students to achieve their fullest potential.

Students are admitted at Secondary One (Form One) and completed their Pre-University (Sixth Form) here. They are selected on the basis of their performance in the Primary Certificate of Education Examination taken at their end of Sixth Year in primary school. The best students in Brunei-Muara District, those with straight A's in Malay, English, Science, Mathematics and General Paper are offered places here. Only citizens are admitted.

OBJECTIVES

The college believes that each students shoud be able to:

• Perform to their maximum academic potential.
• Be a motivated, well-balanced, caring, informed and worthwhile citizen.
• Acquire a positive self-concept.
• Develop skills for meaningful interpersonal relationships.
• Realize their physical, moral, spiritual and cultural potential.
• Develop problem-solving strategies through creative and lateral thinking skills in and for a challenging environment.

MISSION

"Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan is a college which aims is to promote full educational development and the personal being of each student and the development of its members of staff through a sense of caring in a trusting, safe, motivated and dedicated environment".

By means of the friendly interaction among staff, parents and the authorities, students are encouraged to become socially responsible and conscientious while developing attitudes and skills which enable the attainment of educational goals, being dedicated to serving their country and fellowmen, and to the enjoyment of life through the Malay Muslim Monarchy (M.I.B.) concept.
